OK, so it's July and pretty hot out and nowhere near Christmas... but I'm an animator getting ready to start an animated Christmas short, and I'm looking for a composer or group of musicians to collaborate with. The story is still forming, but, for me, the feel of the music is vital. I also work backwards and like to start with a piece of music and form a story around it. So what's the piece?
In a word: magical. That's how I want it to feel. I'd like the entire piece, especially the music, to evoke that magical, almost childlike view of Christmas. I'm not looking to create some cheesy, crappy piece, but rather, a well thought out, crafted and yes, magical one. Beyond that, I don't have a specific sound in mind - I leave that to you. But I am looking for something that is orchestral and is, in some aspect, traditional, so please so alternative stuff.
If you're interested, drop me a line with some samples or your work or a URL. Please don't send email with no work, because I can't really form an opinion if I don't hear anything. If you'd like to see what I do, you can check out my work at http://www.pdcreative.com
To be up-front, I'm not offering any money (there's always a catch, isn't there?). I plan on entering this piece into festivals, so all I can offer is a chance to get your work out there - same as me. If you're looking for a chance to do something interesting, be very creative and collaborate on something that could be very cool, drop me a line.
