The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra has announced an international competition for young composers that will be held as part of the City of Annapolis' celebration of the 300th anniversary of its city charter in 2007-2008.
Four composers chosen as finalists will be awarded commissioning fees of $5,000 each, and their new works for the competition will be included in ASO programs performed during the 2007-2008 season. Judging of these four works will take place during their respective World Premieres.
One winning composer will win an additional honorary cash prize of $5,000 and have their new work included on a professional commemorative recording by the orchestra, to be released in the fall of 2008.
