Hi everyone! Okay, I'm very new at composing, and I'm interested in a book to teach me a little more about composing music.

However, I'd love some honest feedback about these two songs.

NOTE: They are in MIDI format and so they do not sound exactly how they should. Hopefully you can get a general sense and let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance! Smile

The second one (Flute) is much more interesting the first! It has a nice progression and more sense of melodic purpose.

Both seem a tad bit uneven in the performance department. Are you recording this live to MIDI? You might want to think about cleaning these up and/or requantizing them in Cakewalk or your studio software of choice.

As far as books go, I'm currently reading Kennan's "Counterpoint". You should have some theory background in order to make heads or tails of it. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the comments! Yes, the second one was more fully developed. I could perform them better. But they aren't designed to be finished products, just a little sample Wink Right now I'm reading William Russo's Composing Music: A New Approach and enjoying it a lot Smile When I have something worth posting, I'll post it Smile
